Yes! We only treat a small part of women’s health related to menopause. You still need pap smears, mammograms and general care. Bloom is not a replacement.
Inside your Bloom account is a messaging portal. You’ll receive an email when you have a new message. Expect a response within 48 hours or less. In addition to messaging, each time you renew your medications (every 3 months) you get a Zoom call with the ARNP if needed.
No. We will be happy to provide a second opinion consultation for $99.00. This is opinion/advice only. We do not treat, order labs or prescribe at this visit. We make suggestions as to what alterations/labs/dosage/form might be suited to your situation. You can then share this with your provider.
We’re a small, specialized practice that limits patient volume to ensure nearly immediate provider access and deeply personalized care rooted in functional medicine. Our base fee is $249/month. Unlike most clinics, we offer unique options like peptides, Oxytocin, and a constantly evolving range of advanced treatments.
All peri women need progesterone so that’s a base line item as is vaginal estradiol. Most peri women also need topical progesterone so we can add that in place of estrogen. Or we can add testosterone in place of estrogen. Lots of options, lots of individual factors to consider and we can make adjustments to the plan based on your needs. Drop and email to hello@bloomhrt.com to discuss.
It typically takes a full 3 months to really start enjoying the effects of HRT. However, symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats typically see results sooner. Other products for vaginal dryness and bladder issues require time for the tissue to repair and heal. This is typically 10-12 weeks.
If you are having menopausal symptoms and have not had a period in 12 months you are likely to be in menopause. If your still having periods, even irregular ones, you are in perimenopause. Typical age for perimenopause is 40’s and menopause 50’s. We are happy to grab a set of labs to check your hormone levels.
Menopause refers to the point in time when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months, marking the end of her reproductive years. It is a definitive milestone indicating that the ovaries have ceased producing significant amounts of estrogen and progesterone, and no longer release eggs.
Perimenopause, on the other hand, is the transitional phase leading up to menopause, during which a woman may experience irregular menstrual cycles, changes in menstrual flow, hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood swings. This phase can last from a few months to several years as hormone levels fluctuate before finally reaching menopause. Perimenopause usually starts in your 40’s.
Women with a uterus who are in menopause and are taking estrogen therapy need progesterone (or a progestin, which is a synthetic form of progesterone) to counterbalance the effects of estrogen on the lining of the uterus (endometrium). Estrogen alone can cause the endometrium to thicken, increasing the risk of endometrial cancer. Progesterone helps to prevent this by causing the endometrium to shed through a menstrual-like bleeding, thereby reducing the risk of developing endometrial cancer. This combination therapy is important for protecting the health of the uterus in women who are receiving estrogen during menopause.
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is generally well-tolerated, but some women may experience side effects, especially in the first few months as the body adjusts. Common side effects can include:
Breast tenderness
Bloating or fluid retention
Mood changes or PMS-like symptoms
Headaches
Spotting or irregular bleeding
A return of bleeding or a “period” after years without one (usually temporary, but should be reported)
Mild weight gain or changes in body composition
These side effects often improve with time or dose adjustments. More serious risks—like blood clots or breast cancer—are rare and depend on your personal health history and the type of HRT used. Your provider will help you choose a plan that balances benefits and risks for your individual needs.
Bloom orders are sent via US mail, so in most cases that means three to five days from the time of your order.
You can cancel or make changes at any time before your order ships. Once a tracking number is provided we can not make changes.
Once an order has been shipped there are no refunds. Legally we can not take returned medications. All sales are final. If you feel that a mistake has been made with your order please email us at hello@bloomhrt.com.
All of our products are bio-identical except for the low dose birth control.
Our generic medications are FDA approved and may be used off label. This includes the estrogen patches, gel, pills and vaginal estrogen tablets and cream as well as oral progesterone pills. We also use compounded medications that are not FDA approved for our sexual enhancement, skin and hair care. Testosterone cream is compounded and not FDA approved. There is no FDA approved testosterone medication for women, only for men.
We use several different compounding pharmacies depending on the medication prescribed. Some of the pharmacies we use are Empower Pharmacy, Strive Pharmacy, Hallandale Pharmacy, Belmar Pharmacy and several others.
If you have private health insurance and use Quest we can submit labs electronically (excluding Medicare). Otherwise we’ll provide you with a lab slip. These are considered diagnostic labs so may be subject to your deductible. It’s your responsibility to check if they are covered. Your deductible cost may be higher than paying cash.
You’ll need to send a copy of the results to us through the patient portal.
It takes 2 weeks for labs to come back. Schedule accordingly so you don’t run out of medication.
Here are the self-pay lab pricing options:
Testosterone therapy $65 and repeated at 8 weeks and then once yearly
Follow up estrogen/progesterone labs $125 and repeated once yearly.
For women starting HRT for first time in 10 years since last period $200. Please read our blog article detailing starting at an older age here.
Most women do not need labs to get started. If you are currently taking HRT from another provider and not feeling well we will get labs to check your levels. We check labs around the 8-10 week mark after starting HRT to assess levels. Once optimized we check labs yearly. Before starting testosterone labs are required.
Insurance will not pay for labs if you do not meet their criteria of a standard thyroid diagnosis. They will not also pay for medications without this diagnosis. Functional medicine diagnosis of suboptimal thyroid or poor conversion is not an ICD10 diagnosis and therefore insurance will not pay for it. If your labs and symptoms show you meet the insurance criteria we can use it for meds and labs. The provider fee will be $189/mo for management of care or an additional $89/mo if you’re an insurance plan HRT patient.
